The Dassault Mirage III is a French delta wing fighter aircraft that entered service in 1961, one of the most widely exported Western fighters of the Cold War era, used by air forces across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia and South Africa. It saw significant combat, most notably in Israeli service during the 1967 Six-Day War, and its delta wing layout influenced a long line of later Dassault fighter designs.
