Dallara IR-28

Automobiles

The Dallara IR-28 is an open-wheel formula racing car developed and produced by the Italian manufacturer Dallara and expected to debut for the 2028 IndyCar Series. It was officially revealed on 28 June 2026. The IR-28 will be equipped with a 2.4 litre twin-turbo V6 engine, and it is expected to be about 100 pounds (45 kg) lighter than the Dallara DW12 it is due to replace, helped by a new six-speed transmission from Xtrac that saves a further 25 pounds. IndyCar also announced that shock absorbers will become a supplied part, and the car was designed with safety as the priority and to be faster than the DW12, with track records expected to fall. Early testing included runs at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and oval and at Sebring International Raceway.
