The Dallara GP2/05 is an open-wheel racing car built by the Italian chassis manufacturer Dallara for the GP2 Series, the feeder series for Formula One. It was the first car used by the series and ran from 2005 to 2007, in keeping with the series habit of introducing a new chassis every three years. GP2 was a spec series, so every team and driver raced the same car. It has a carbon fibre monocoque built to the safety standards of the FIA, ground effect aerodynamics meant to encourage overtaking, a 580 bhp Renault V8 engine in 2005 and a six speed semi-automatic gearbox changed by paddles on the wheel. Pre-season tests gave a top speed of 320 km/h and a 0 to 200 km/h time of 6.70 seconds, and the car had hardly any driver aids, with no traction control or launch control.
