The Dallara Formulino is an entry level range of single seater racing cars from Dallara, and in January 2009 Racecar Engineering reported the release of the Pro version, which completed a three step range of Base, Plus and Pro. The range can take a driver from a simple car with no wing or diffuser up to a car close in specification to a Formula Three car. The aim was the best price to performance ratio in the single seater market, and the car conforms to the 2008 FIA Formula Three crash test regulations, making it as safe as a Dallara F3 car, with the same suspension layout and a wide range of suspension and aerodynamic configurations on the Plus and Pro. It uses the Hewland FTR gearbox and can accept a wide range of engines up to 260 BHP and 280 Nm of torque. Prices ran from 38,500 euros for the Base to 43,500 euros for the Plus and 65,000 euros for the Pro. The first customer series was the German ADAC Formel Masters, which used the Plus car with a 1.6 FSi Volkswagen engine and started in 2008 with 23 cars.
