The Dallara 3087 was a Formula 3000 car built by Dallara and first used in the 1987 International Formula 3000 season, when the EuroVenturini and Forti Corse teams ran it with Cosworth DFV engines. It is best remembered for an unusual Formula One appearance. Dallara's planned F188 chassis was not ready when the BMS Scuderia Italia team needed to start the 1988 season, so the team entered a 3087 adapted to Formula One regulations, fitted with a 3-litre Cosworth DFV engine with its rev limiter removed, for the opening Brazilian Grand Prix. Driven by Alex Caffi, it failed to pass pre-qualifying, with a fastest time about 18 seconds slower than the pole time set by Ayrton Senna. The team switched to the purpose-built Dallara F188 from the next race. The 3087 is described as the last non-Formula One car, and the last car with an original Cosworth DFV engine, to enter a Formula One Grand Prix.
