The D19E is a series of diesel-electric locomotives used by Vietnam Railways, also known by the nickname Đổi mới. The design is the CKD7F, built in China by CRRC Ziyang, the Sichuan locomotive works that was formerly part of CSR. The first twenty, numbered 901 to 920, were built in 2001 and 2002 with an angular body, and 921 to 940 followed in 2004. Numbers 941 to 960 (2007 and 2008) have a rounded front and were assembled at the Gia Lâm works of Vietnam Railways, and 961 to 980 (2011 and 2012) received modified windows and headlights. A further batch of numbers 981 to 1000 was built in 2026 with the same CAT 3512B engine. The class grew from forty units in service in 2005 to eighty in 2012 and a hundred by 2026. Its locomotives have also been involved in several level crossing collisions, notably the 2005 Lang Co derailment of the E1 train.
