The Consolidated PB2Y Coronado is a large American flying boat patrol bomber built by Consolidated Aircraft, first flown in December 1937 and delivered to the United States Navy beginning in December 1940. Used for bombing, antisubmarine patrol, medical evacuation and transport, it proved especially valuable ferrying personnel and cargo across the vast, often airstrip free distances of the Pacific theater during the Second World War.
