China Railways SS3

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The Shaoshan 3, abbreviated SS3, is a type of electric locomotive used on the national railway system of the People's Republic of China. It was the third Chinese electric main line locomotive and was built by the Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Works, the factory that was later spun off as CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive and is now CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive. Two examples survive in preservation: SS3-0001 is kept at the China Railway Museum and SS3-0023 at Central South University. The published text read for this entry gives no production dates, power rating or top speed, so none are stated here and those facts remain to be sourced from a further page.
