The NDJ3, nicknamed Great Wall and first labelled Harmony Great Wall, is a diesel multiple unit built in China for the Beijing suburban line S2 between Beijing North and Badaling. It was ordered by the Ministry of Railways to carry passengers during the 2008 Summer Olympics and entered service on 6 August 2008. Each set has a diesel-electric power car at either end of a push-pull rake of passenger cars, the locomotive ends designed at Qishuyan with experience from the DF11 and DF11G, and the carriages designed at Nanjing Puzhen on the 25T carriage. Gearing for the steep S2 gradients limits top speed to 160 km/h. Later sets were bought by Beijing for the Huairou to Miyun line, and two sets were exported to Nigeria as the CDD5E1. It is the only higher-speed diesel trainset with power cars still operating in China.
