The Chengdu J-10 is a single-engine, delta-wing multirole fighter developed by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation for the People's Liberation Army Air Force, entering confirmed service in the early 2000s as one of the first modern fighter designs developed primarily within China rather than adapted from a foreign airframe. Built with a canard-delta configuration and fly-by-wire flight controls, it has been produced in single- and two-seat variants and progressively upgraded engines and avionics, and it has become one of the most numerous fighters in Chinese air force service as well as an export type to allied air forces.
