Cessna Citation Excel

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Cessna Citation Excel, Model 560XL, is an American midsize business jet in the Citation family. Cessna announced it in October 1994, it first flew on 29 February 1996, the FAA certified it in April 1998, and more than 1,000 have been delivered. It combines the cruciform tail and unswept supercritical wing of the Citation V with a slightly shortened Citation X stand-up cabin, and two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW545 turbofans give it a range of 2,100 nautical miles at a 20,200 pound maximum takeoff weight. The XLS of 2004 added upgraded engines and a glass cockpit and the XLS+ of 2008 a revised nose. The Citation Ascend, which entered service in 2025, has interior, communications and avionics updates, a flat cabin floor and enlarged windows.
