Cessna 188 AGwagon

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Cessna 188 is a family of light agricultural aircraft that Cessna produced between 1966 and 1983, sold as the AGwagon, AGpickup, AGtruck and AGhusky. Cessna surveyed pilots and operators of other brands to learn what they wanted, and the result was a conventional single-seat, piston-engined, strut-braced low-wing agricultural airplane that borrowed heavily from the Cessna 180, with a 230 horsepower Continental O-470-R engine in the first version. The airframe is mostly 2024-T3 aluminum with a fiberglass chemical hopper, and later models were lightly pressurized to reduce the chemicals drawn into the airframe. It first flew on 19 February 1965 and entered production in February 1966, and 3,976 were built across the four variants. Many were later used as glider and sailplane tugs.
