Car Carrier (ship)

A car carrier, sometimes called a pure car carrier or pure car and truck carrier, is a cargo ship built with multiple internal decks connected by ramps, designed to transport very large numbers of automobiles and other wheeled vehicles at once. Vehicles are driven aboard and parked deck by deck rather than lifted by crane, which allows fast loading and unloading, and the type grew rapidly from the mid twentieth century as automobile manufacturers began exporting cars in volume across the world's oceans.
