BYD C9

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The BYD C9 is a battery electric coach manufactured by the Chinese automaker BYD. BYD has built electric drive buses since 2010, but until 2015 it concentrated on city buses for short distances with the modest comfort usual in them. The C9, presented in January 2015 at the UMA Motorcoach EXPO in New Orleans, was the first electric touring coach, and it is also suitable for urban traffic. It was first shown in Europe in June 2016 at the French trade fair Transports Publics, where the first buyer was Green Yvelines, a bus company near Paris, which ordered twelve vehicles. Around 100 were to be used in China by the end of 2016. Since October 2018 Flixbus has run a 40-seat C9 four times a day between Frankfurt and Mannheim, a route of 115 kilometres, with a range of 320 kilometres and charging overnight and once or twice a day.
