Bristol LS

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Bristol LS, short for light saloon, was a single deck bus and coach built on integral principles: it had no true chassis, and lightweight running units were fitted to a special Eastern Coach Works body that gave the vehicle its strength and rigidity. The Wikipedia article on Bristol Commercial Vehicles dates the new Light Saloon to 1952, while the Bristol CV Buses website describes the LS as a joint venture between Bristol and Eastern Coach Works with Alexander and gives production between 1951 and 1958. It counts 1409 built, with bus, dual purpose and coach bodies and engines from AEC, Commer, Gardner and Bristol, so the type was sold in many different forms.
