The Boeing 314 Clipper is a large American flying boat that Pan American Airways began flying on transatlantic and transpacific routes in 1939, among the largest aircraft of its day. Configured with private compartments, a dining area and sleeping berths for its passengers, it brought a standard of long haul luxury air travel that would not be matched again for years, though only twelve examples were ever built before wartime priorities and the rise of long range landplanes ended the type's production.
