Bell UH-1N Twin Huey

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Bell UH-1N Twin Huey is a medium military helicopter designed and produced by the American aerospace manufacturer Bell Helicopter, a twin-engine member of the Huey family. The initial version, the CUH-1N Twin Huey, later CH-135 Twin Huey, was first ordered by the Canadian Forces in 1968, and the UH-1N flew for the first time in April 1969, barely a year after initial discussions. Its United States procurement was initially controversial because of the Canadian content such as its Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6T engines, but the services ordered 294 Bell 212s under the designation UH-1N, with deliveries starting in 1970, and Canada received 50 CH-135s from May 1971. The United States Air Force sent the type to front-line combat units in Vietnam in October 1970.
