Bell Eagle Eye

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Bell Helicopter Eagle Eye is an American tiltrotor unmanned aerial vehicle that Bell offered as a competitor in the United States Navy's VT-UAV program. The program began in 1993 with a seven-eighths scale TR911X prototype whose composite airframe was designed and built for Bell by Scaled Composites. The two demonstrators used one Allison 250-C20 turboshaft in the centre fuselage with a transmission driving a tilting rotor at the end of each wing. The aircraft made its first flight on 6 March 1998 and entered a flight test program. Bell promoted the Eagle Eye for a decade without finding a buyer until the United States Coast Guard ordered it in summer 2002 as part of its Deepwater program, in a slightly scaled-up version designated HV-911.
