Barge

A barge is a flat bottomed vessel built to carry heavy cargo on rivers, canals and other inland or sheltered waters, most often with no engine of its own and instead towed or pushed by a tug. Its flat hull and shallow draft let it carry very large, heavy loads such as bulk grain, coal, aggregates and containers through waterways too shallow or narrow for seagoing ships, and barges remain one of the most efficient ways to move heavy freight over land based waterway networks today.
