The Avro 529 was a twin-engined biplane long-range bomber of the First World War, Avro's second twin-engined aircraft and its second attempt at a heavy bomber after the Pike. Like the Pike it was a large wood-and-canvas biplane with three-bay wings without sweepback, dihedral or stagger, partly to ease wing folding. Its rectangular fuselage seated three, with a pilot forward of the wings and gunners in the nose and amidships, each with a Lewis gun on a Scarff ring. The two prototypes differed mainly in power: the first had two 190 hp Rolls-Royce Falcon engines, and the 529A two 230 hp B.H.P. engines in nacelles. It handled well apart from poor elevator control, but there was no production order.
