The AM General BRV-O, short for Blast Resistant Vehicle Off-road, was AM General's design for the United States Joint Light Tactical Vehicle program, the search for a successor to the Humvee. AM General aimed it at better protection, performance, payload, transportability, reliability and affordability than the vehicle it was meant to replace. In August 2012 the Army and Marine Corps chose it as one of three designs, alongside entries from Lockheed Martin and Oshkosh, to continue into engineering and manufacturing development. Oshkosh won with its L-ATV in August 2015 and AM General said it would not protest. A 2016 Pentagon test report found the BRV-O would need significant redesign to meet force protection requirements.
