Albion Aberdonian

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Albion Aberdonian was an underfloor-engined single-deck bus chassis made by Albion Motors from 1957 to 1960 as a longer derivative of the Albion Nimbus. Its development code was Nimbus-Six, and it was meant to be the lightest full-size underfloor-engined bus on the market, with bodied examples weighing about half a ton less than a Leyland Tiger Cub of similar power. It used a Leyland six-cylinder diesel mounted horizontally mid-wheelbase, a lightweight frame of channel and tubular members and vacuum-assisted hydraulic brakes. It was launched at the 1957 Scottish Motor Show and sold to the Scottish Bus Group and to British Electric Traction fleets in England, with export orders including Ceylon.
