The CA100T Trail 50, a Super Cub for on and off road riding, appeared in 1961 and reached US dealers by March 1961. It followed a Honda dealer in Boise, Idaho, Herb Uhl, who had been selling CA100s as trail bikes by adding knobby tires and a larger rear sprocket, and American Honda sales manager Jack McCormack, who shipped a version of that customized CA100 to Japan and asked Honda to put it into production. Cycle World praised the simple pleasure of riding trails on the new bike, which sold well in the US.
