Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

NedCar, later VDL Nedcar, was the car assembly company that ran the large factory at Born in Limburg, in the south of the Netherlands. The plant began as a DAF car factory in 1967 or 1968, passed to Volvo, and from 1991 was run as a joint venture of the Dutch state, Volvo and Mitsubishi Motors, taking the name Netherlands Car B.V. officially in 1996. Mitsubishi held all of it from 2001. The Dutch group VDL bought the factory in December 2012 and renamed it VDL Nedcar. Over the years it assembled cars for other brands, among them Volvo, Mitsubishi, Smart and, from 2014, Mini and the BMW X1, until the BMW contract ended and the factory closed in 2024. Under its own name it showed only one car, the 1996 Access concept. This entry records NedCar as the maker label for that car.
