Fangchengbao, meaning formula leopard in Chinese and also written Formula Bao or FCB, is an electric car brand owned by BYD Auto that mainly produces performance-oriented SUVs for the off-road and track-focused segments. BYD announced the brand on 9 June 2023, and its first model, the Bao 5, appeared at the Chengdu Auto Show on 16 August 2023 on a body-on-frame platform called DMO, short for Dual Mode Off-road. The Bao 8 flagship followed in 2024, with the compact Tai 3 and the Ti7 among later models. Fangchengbao is not marketed outside China under its own name; its models are exported with Denza or BYD badges instead. The brand began with directly operated stores and, from June 2024, recruited dealerships, and a July 2024 price cut on the Bao 5 led to protests by early buyers at some dealerships.
