Troller (Brazilian marque)

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Troller was a Brazilian off-road vehicle brand founded in 1995 in Horizonte, Ceará, by Rogério Farias, who built the first prototype in April 1996. Entrepreneur Mário Araripe bought the company in 1997 and formed a partnership with Farias; the first gasoline-powered T4 was built that year, and mass production started in 1999, when a factory was built in Horizonte. A plant opened in Angola in 2005 to build the T4 for the African market, and in January 2007 Ford do Brasil announced its acquisition of Troller for 400 million reais. The T4, which featured in several rally races around the world including the Dakar Rally, was the flagship, and the models also included the Pantanal pickup of 2006 to 2008. The name is a Brazilian adaptation of the English word troll, a character of Scandinavian legend. The Horizonte plant closed at the end of 2021 when Ford ended all its production in Brazil.
