Mercedes-Benz Econic

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Econic is a low-entry truck that Mercedes-Benz introduced in 1998, built for jobs where the crew climbs in and out of the cab many times a day. It is normally used for waste collection, fire and emergency work and airport ground services. It comes in weights of 18 and 26 tonnes and is powered by a six cylinder inline engine with a turbocharger and intercooler. Because the cab sits low, the driver and crew step in at close to street level. It appeared during the DaimlerChrysler years and was given a facelift in 2014 with new headlamps and a revised front grille.
