Western Star 4700

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Western Star 4700 Series was the entry-level model of Western Star Trucks, built in truck and tractor versions, both with a 110-inch bumper-to-back-of-cab length. In vocational use its engineering was meant to reduce fitting time and cost for body builders, and it could be outfitted for virtually any vocational application. For on-highway work it was offered as a daycab or with a 40-inch sleeper and was used mainly in short haul applications. Western Star, started in 1967 as a division of White Motor Corporation, was bought by DaimlerChrysler in 2000 and became part of the Freightliner Trucks division, and in May 2015 the Cleveland, North Carolina plant of Daimler Truck North America began to build the 4700 and the 4900. Western Star now lists the 4700 among the models it previously offered.
