The Lancia 1Z was a light military truck built by Lancia from 1912 to 1916 and was the company's first military vehicle. Mechanically it was close to the 1913 35 HP Theta passenger car, with a 4,940 cc side valve monobloc inline four-cylinder engine giving 70 hp at 2,200 rpm, a four-speed gearbox, a ladder frame with solid axles on leaf springs, a top speed of 60 km/h and a load of 2.2 tons. Deliveries began in 1912 in time for service in Libya during the Italo-Turkish War, and use continued through the First World War, when some were imported into the UK and used by the Royal Naval Air Service. In 1916 Ansaldo and Lancia built an armoured car on its chassis, and in 1917 it was chosen as the carrier for 75 mm anti-aircraft guns. The Jota truck replaced it, and production ended in 1916.
