The Dodge WC series, nicknamed Beeps and at first, from 1940 to 1942, jeeps, was a prolific range of light four-wheel-drive and medium six-wheel-drive military utility trucks that Chrysler produced under the Dodge and Fargo marques during the Second World War. Together with the quarter-ton jeeps of Willys and Ford, the Dodge half-ton G-505 and three-quarter-ton G-502 trucks made up nearly all the light four-wheel-drive trucks supplied to the United States military, Dodge contributing some 337,500 four-wheel-drive units. Unlike the highly standardized jeeps, the WC series came from the factory in many purpose-built but mechanically uniform variants, much like the later HMMWV family, and was built in two generations.
