The Austin K2/Y was a British heavy military ambulance used by all Commonwealth forces during the Second World War, and by American forces under reverse Lend-Lease. Austin built it on the K2 chassis derived from the 1938 K30 thirty hundredweight truck, and the Royal Army Medical Corps developed its body, which the coachbuilder Mann Egerton made. It carried ten seated casualties or four stretchers, had canvas in place of cab doors and two petrol tanks, and reached about 80 km/h. A total of 13,102 were made at Longbridge from 1940 to the end of the war, and troops nicknamed it Katy. It served again in Korea and starred in the 1958 film Ice Cold in Alex.
