The Unimog 418 was a Unimog series that Daimler-Benz built as successor to the Unimog 417 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Gaggenau between 1992 and 1998. It was the last medium Unimog series, and 1,223 vehicles were built in seven variants. It was launched together with the light Unimog 408, and both series offered similar, newly developed angular cabs in a high-roof or normal-height form, with a bonnet in two versions: the so-called sight-channel bonnet with a flattened area on the driver's side, or a symmetrical bonnet. At first the U 110 and U 130 were built; after the Euro II emission standard changed the engine and raised its power slightly, the U 130 became the U 140, and the U 110 was dropped in 1995. An L marks the long-wheelbase models. The 418 was discontinued in 1998, while the 408 continued until 2001; the Unimog 405 series of 2000 now serves their customers.
