Unimog 408

The Unimog 408 is a light series of the Mercedes-Benz Unimog multi-purpose truck, built from 1992 to 2001 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Gaggenau, Germany, as the successor of the Unimog 407. In all, 2,050 vehicles were produced in four type variants. It came to market together with the medium-weight Unimog 418, and both series offered similar, newly developed angular cabs, either with a high roof or at normal height. Both also shared a distinctive bonnet in two versions, one with a flattened area on the driver's side and one symmetrical. The 418 series was discontinued in 1998 and the 408 in 2001. Since then the implement carrier series 405, introduced in 2000, has been meant to serve the customers of the two retired series.
