Renault YF

The Renault YF is a heavy goods vehicle model produced by the French company Renault from 1932 to 1935. Sold as a light truck with a payload of 3.5 tonnes and as a coach, it was also bought in several hundred examples by the French armed forces. It came out at the end of 1932 and replaced the Renault SZ in the 3.5 tonne class. Unlike its predecessor it was offered with either a four-cylinder diesel or a four-cylinder petrol engine, the latter being the first overhead-valve engine fitted to a Renault heavy vehicle, and it could take many bodies, from coach to tipper. The petrol types were the YFAB, YFAC, YFAC1 and YFAE and the diesel types the YFDB, YFDC, YFDC1 and YFDE. The petrol engine is the type 383 of 100 by 129 mm giving 55 hp in the YFAB and 65 hp in the YFAC and YFAE, and the diesel is a 96 by 150 mm four-cylinder, whose top speed under the governor on a YFDB tested in 1933 was 52 km/h.
