Renault TL

The Renault TL is a heavy goods vehicle model produced by the French company Renault from 1930 to 1932. At the end of 1930 Renault stopped making its last commercial vehicles with the gendarme's hat bonnet, the radiator behind the engine, and adopted vertical grilles with the radiator in front, in a highly modular range with many standardised parts. Within that range the type TL has a payload of 4 tonnes and so replaces the Renault SF of 1928. Sold mainly as a truck, it can be bodied as a 29-seat bus. The TL version was produced from 1930 to 1931, and the TL4D, with a diesel engine, from 1931 to 1932. It has a four-cylinder side-valve petrol engine of 110 by 160 mm with 60 hp (23 CV commercial rating), while the diesel version has a four-cylinder of 115 by 170 mm developed in-house by Renault since 1929. The tyres are of the balloon type, single at the front and twinned at the rear, and the gearbox has four forward speeds and one reverse.
