Renault SZ

The Renault SZ is a heavy goods vehicle model produced by the French company Renault from 1929 to 1933. It was designed by reusing the engine of the Renault Vivasix car and gave up the gendarme's hat bonnet, with the radiator behind the engine, of its predecessors, in a highly modular commercial range with many standardised parts. Within that range the type SZ has a payload of 3 tonnes, raised to 3.5 tonnes for 1932, and can take many bodies, from coach to tipper. Its production dates are the SZ in 1929 and 1930, the SZ1 in 1930, the SZ2 in 1930 and 1931, the SZ3 in 1931 and the SZ4 in 1931 and 1932. The SZ has the six-cylinder side-valve petrol engine of 75 by 120 mm of the Vivasix, with a real power of 45 hp at 2,200 rpm, and a rear axle with double reduction. The long chassis can be bodied as a 22-seat coach or a 25-seat bus, and twelve SZ buses bought by the city of Riga drove to Latvia under their own power, with peaks at 90 km/h.
