The Renault SG was a truck with a payload of 5 to 5.5 tonnes made by Renault from 1928 to 1930. It was produced from 1928 to 1930 under the types SG and SG1, with pneumatic tyres and solid tyres respectively, and a producer-gas variant, the SGG, was made in 1929 and 1930, as the SGG on pneumatic tyres and the SG1G on solid tyres. The payload is 5,000 kg, and at the end of 1929 the chassis was strengthened, keeping the same dimensions, and the payload raised to 5,500 kg. The chassis could be used for many purposes: canvas-topped truck, delivery van, brewery truck, livestock truck, tanker or tipper. The French Army bought about two to four SGG and SG1G trucks. The SG has a four-cylinder engine of 100 by 160 mm rated at 20 CV under the front bonnet, a gearbox separate from the rear axle, shaft drive through mechanical universal joints and servo-assisted brakes on all four wheels.
