Renault Gamme B 4x4

The Renault Gamme B 4x4 is a four-wheel-drive utility vehicle extrapolated from the Gamme B produced by Renault Véhicules Industriels at the end of the 1980s. Although it has the look and size of a van, it is closer in its design to a heavy goods vehicle, with, for example, a separate chassis and cab, and it exists in three different 4x4 versions depending on the year and the company that carried out the construction or conversion. At the end of the 1980s Renault Véhicules Industriels studied a 4x4 version of the B70 to replace the TP3, an off-road model derived from the SG2, first allying with the equipment maker Hurth, which became Dana Spicer in 1997. The first references to prototypes go back to the Renault Rallye Raid Afrique of 1986, and a Renault B90 4x4 Nashua took part in the Paris-Dakar from 1986 to 1991. The all-terrain Hurth versions were produced from 1986 to 1996, the Ponticelli road versions from 1987 to 1992 and the Renault versions from 1996 to 1999, and the 4x4 was used as a tactical truck by the French overseas army, by fire brigades and by EDF. They all use SOFIM 8140 direct-injection engines of 2.5 or 2.8 litres, up to 120 hp, with a ZF five-speed gearbox.
