The Renault Galion, together with its predecessor the Renault 2,500 kg or 2T5, was a truck and van with a 2.5-tonne carrying capacity that Renault manufactured between 1947 and 1957 and its subsidiary Saviem between 1957 and 1965. Renault launched the 2,500 kg light truck in 1947 to replace the AHx series, built at its Boulogne-Billancourt plant, and in 1957 moved production to Saviem's Blainville-sur-Orne plant, where the Galion and Goélette names were officially introduced in 1959. By 1961 Saviem was building 50 to 60 Galions a day, with a 3-litre Perkins diesel or a 2-litre petrol Renault engine, a four-speed manual gearbox and leaf springs, and in 1962 Renault announced a 2.72-litre diesel of its own. Saviem introduced the more powerful Super Galion range in 1965, and the Galion was discontinued.
