Renault DB

The Renault DB was a Renault truck built in 92 examples from 1912 to 1915 and used during the First World War. It was presented to the Mines authority on 3 July 1912 together with the lighter Renault DA of the same size, and two DBs were entered with two DAs in the Ministry of War heavy truck trials of July 1912, where it won a prize; the purchase subsidy was 2,900 francs plus an annual maintenance bonus of 1,200 francs for three years. Most civilian trucks were requisitioned by the French armies in August 1914, and in early 1915 Renault truck production moved to the single type EP, released in 1914. The DB has its engine under the bonnet, a four-cylinder of 100 by 160 mm rated at 14 and then 16 HP, with a reduction gear built into the rear axle, a four-speed gearbox, a top speed of 20 km/h and a wheelbase of 3.76 m.
