Renault DA

The Renault DA was a Renault truck built in 67 examples from 1912 to 1915 and used during the First World War. It was presented to the Mines authority on 3 July 1912 together with the heavier Renault DB of the same size, and two DAs were entered with two DBs in the Ministry of War heavy truck trials of July 1912, where it won a prize; the purchase subsidy was 2,300 francs plus an annual maintenance bonus of 1,100 francs for three years. Most civilian trucks were requisitioned by the French armies in August 1914. The DA was replaced by the type FF, released in June 1914, but wartime truck production concentrated on the type EP. It has its engine under the bonnet, a four-cylinder of 100 by 160 mm rated at 14 and then 16 HP, a four-speed gearbox, a top speed of 20 km/h and a wheelbase of 3.76 m.
