The Renault AHx was a range of light and medium trucks with carrying capacities from 2 to 5 tonnes, manufactured by Renault between 1941 and 1947, and various versions were used in World War II by the German forces. Prototypes of the first, the AHS2, were unveiled by 1939 to replace the AGC, but the French military rejected it for its 2.5-tonne group and the Wehrmacht ordered it as a 2-tonne model, with about 23,000 AHS, 4,000 AHN and between 1,000 and 2,000 AHR supplied. The AHS had a 2.38-litre inline-four petrol engine and the AHN and AHR a 4.05-litre inline-six, all with a four-speed manual gearbox, and gasifier-equipped versions were built. After the war the AHS3, AHS4, AHN2 and AHN3 were produced mainly for civilians until the Renault Galion replaced them in 1947, and the cab was also the basis of the 7-tonne Renault 208 E1.
