The Renault ADK was a truck made by the French maker Renault at Boulogne-Billancourt from 1936 to 1939. Although sold as a commercial vehicle, it was designed to the recommendations of the French Army, notably with right-hand drive. Its payload was 1.5 tonnes and the military classed it as a light van. Its four-cylinder Renault engine of 85 by 105 mm gives 41.5 hp at 2,600 rpm and the ADK reaches 64 km/h. From 1936 to 1938, 4,025 ADK were produced, 2,399 of them delivered to the Army: 2,315 canvas-topped, 67 instruction estates, eight tippers and nine radio vans. Removable benches for wounded men were also bought in 1939 to turn canvas ADKs into temporary ambulances. From 1938 the ADK was replaced by the Renault AGC, almost identical except for the front bumper, but the Army ordered 559 more canvas ADKs and 15 radio vans in 1938 and production was restarted, the last vehicles being delivered in March 1939.
