The Mercedes-Benz MB700 is a medium-sized cab-over truck that Mercedes-Benz had built in Indonesia from June 1994 by PT German Motor Manufacturing, a company renamed PT DaimlerChrysler Indonesia in 2000 after the merger with Chrysler. It was designed for Asian markets, and its rough-road ability also suited sales across Africa and the Middle East. Turkish assembly began in June 1996 and assembly was later added in Egypt and South Africa. The truck used a 4.0-litre OM364 diesel engine, naturally aspirated at 90 PS or turbocharged at 122 PS, fitted in a cab adapted from the MB100 van. It was meant to challenge the Mitsubishi Colt Diesel in the Indonesian medium truck market but sold only modestly. A facelifted MB800, a lighter MB500 and longer MBO700 and MBO800 bus chassis followed the original, and production ended in 2002.
