Mercedes-Benz L 3250

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Mercedes-Benz L 3250 was a medium-tonnage two-axle truck produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1949 to 1961. It was first presented four years after the Second World War, and less than a year later it was updated to the L 3500. The figure in the name gives the payload in kilograms. The truck was completely reworked except for the cab and came with the new OM 300 engine, a six-cylinder pre-chamber unit that in its first version had a capacity of 4.6 litres and produced 90 horsepower and that, in further developed form, stayed in production until the end of the 1990s. In 1953 a slightly stronger model with a higher payload was added, called the L 4500. In 1954 Mercedes-Benz changed its model names so that the L 3500 became the L 311 and the L 4500 the L 312. Production in West Germany ended in 1961 but continued for some years at Mercedes-Benz plants in South America and under licence from Tata Motors in India.
