The Mercedes-Benz L 1111, popularly called the 1111, was the first semi-forward-cab truck built in Brazil by the German company Mercedes-Benz, produced from 1964 to 1970. Together with its successor, the L 1113, built from 1970 to 1987, it formed the best-selling truck line in Brazilian history, with 240,000 units sold in the country. Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, the national arm founded in 1953, developed it after the success of the L 312 and LP 321 as a highly efficient truck suited to long-distance hauling on Brazil's new and often unpaved federal highways. It was the first of the series with the semi-forward AGL cab. It had a gross weight of 10,500 kilograms and the OM 321 inline six-cylinder indirect-injection engine of 5.1 litres and 110 horsepower, with a five-speed synchronised gearbox, and came as the L truck, the LK tipper and the LS tractor unit; four-wheel-drive versions followed the next year. It left production in the early 1970s as the sales leader.
