The Isuzu Begin was a walk-through delivery van that Isuzu built in Japan for only a short time. It was developed as the successor to the Elf UT and as a rival to the Toyota Quick Delivery, and it was sold mainly to parcel carriers other than Yamato Transport, such as Nippon Express, Sagawa Express and Fukuyama Transporting, and to Japan Post. It was built on the chassis of the Rodeo pickup, so it ran on single rear tyres and carried 1,150 kilograms, less than its rivals, and its fuel tank held 53 litres because it was meant for short urban deliveries. It used the naturally aspirated 4JG2 diesel from the Elf with a five speed manual or a four speed automatic. It was shown at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show, went on sale in February 2002 and ended production in 2004.
