The Ford Barrel Nose trucks, sold as the Ford 77 to 81 series, were lorries that Ford built around the world in the 1930s and early 1940s. The range was derived from the 1934 Ford V8 passenger car and succeeded the Model BB, and it was also offered as a pick-up and a box van. Ford of Britain built the right-hand-drive version from 1934 as the Fordson E88, while the left-hand-drive version was also made by Matford in France and by Ford-Vairogs in Riga. At Cologne the Ford-Werke built about 25,000 vehicles from 1939 to 1942 as the G917T with a 3.6 litre V8, the G987T with a 3.2 litre four-cylinder engine and the G997T with a 3.9 litre V8 of 95 PS, and these became known as the Ford Wehrmacht trucks. The German version differed from the others in a one-piece windscreen and a single vertical bar in the radiator grille. The successor was the first Ford F-Series in the United States and the Fordson Thames 7V in Britain.
