Renault TI

The Renault TI is a heavy goods vehicle model built by the French company Renault from 1930 to 1938. It was produced in many truck and coach configurations, with different petrol or diesel engines and four or six cylinders. It was meant for the civil market but was also ordered in large quantities by the French armed forces and used during the Second World War. At the end of 1930 Renault stopped making its last commercial vehicles with the gendarme's hat bonnet and adopted more vertical grilles, in a highly modular range with many standardised parts. From 1931 the digit 4 or 6 after the type of the heaviest trucks, from 4 tonnes of payload, gives the number of cylinders, the letter D marks a diesel and the letter A overhead valves; B, C and E mean model years 1932, 1933 and 1935. The four-cylinder petrol models ran from the TIN of 1930 to the TI4AE of 1934 to 1938, the six-cylinder petrol models from 1930 to 1933, and there were diesel and producer-gas versions.
