Mercedes-Benz L 326

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Mercedes-Benz L 326 was a heavy two-axle diesel truck of Daimler-Benz, built at the Gaggenau plant from 1956 to 1958 on the basis of the L 6600. At first it came only as a long-bonnet chassis, as the LK 326 tipper and as the LS 326 tractor unit; from 1957 a cab-over version, the LP 326, was added as successor to the LP 315. Production stopped in 1958 because of the German road-traffic limits known as the Seebohm laws. Officially there was no all-wheel-drive L 326, although several fire-brigade trucks were converted. Its OM 326.I engine was an inline six-cylinder pre-chamber diesel with water cooling and four valves per cylinder, displacing 10,809 cubic centimetres. The trucks were built only with left-hand steering.
